This guidance note explains the nature, scope and legal effect of the declaration signed by an electrical contractor on a Certificate of Compliance. The contractor’s declaration is not an administrative acknowledgement that the work has merely been completed. It is a formal representation that the electrical installation was carried out in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA) and the regulations made under it.
